NEFA unites installers, manufacturers, suppliers, and industry experts to safeguard the interests of our members and the public. We work closely with government agencies to uphold safety and compliance standards in our industry. Our main objective is to simplify the issuance and verification of Certificates of Compliance, promoting safety and security for all.
NEFA is dedicated to supporting accredited electric fence system installers in enhancing their skills through Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points.
NEFA aims to establish a centralized database where every electric fence Certificate of Compliance can be easily verified through a QR-code. This database will be managed by accredited electric fence system installers registered with the Department of Employment and Labour. Our goal is for all electric fences to comply with relevant regulations and standards, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Good Installation Practices document, and National Installation Guidelines (SANS 10222-3, SANS 10222-4, and SANS 60335-2-76). We also plan to conduct audits on a significant percentage of Certificates of Compliance to ensure adherence to these standards.
NEFA is led by a team of experienced professionals dedicated to advancing the electric fence industry. Two directors served on the T68 committee responsible for drafting SANS 10222-3 and SANS 10222-4 standards, with one as chair since 2019. Both directors have permanent voting rights, ensuring lasting influence on industry standards. Our third director has been an active TC 068 committee member since 2013. He started his electric fence company in 1997 after a career as a technical teacher. His study field was mechanical, civil and electrical adding extensive industry involvement to the NEFA leadership. Together, these directors bring over 65 years of combined electric fence experience. Our fourth director is a seasoned accountant with over 30 years of financial industry experience, ensuring NEFA is guided by technical expertise and strong financial stewardship.
